How Does This Work?

You are being given the task to keep up with world events.  You will do this by finding news articles from around the world on anything that remotely interests you.  You will then post a blog on that article.  Here are the restrictions:

  • It must be a world news event - not American.
  • It must be original (no one else should have posted this article already)
Once you read the article, you will sign on to this blog and follow these directions:
  • Hit NEW POST
  • Put the headline of your article in the Title of the post.
  • Summarize the article in one to two paragraphs (give all important details)
  • Provide the link to the original article
  • In a paragraph or two, give your own thoughts about the article.  What did it mean to you?
  • If possible, put a picture in the post.  You can right click a picture on the original article and choose SAVE IMAGE AS...  It may automatically save it in your Downloads folder in your My Documents.  Then, when you click the picture icon next to the word LINK up top, then just click UPLOAD, then CHOOSE FILES and pick your picture.  The picture will appear in the middle of the page.  If you click the picture, you will see where you can move the picture to the right or left or make it bigger or smaller.  You can delete the picture from your computer if you wish and it will stay on your post.
  • PUT YOUR NAME ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • In the LABELS section at the bottom, include the story type.  Do not make up your own label.  The labels for these stories are already made;  SPORTS, WEATHER, ENTERTAINMENT, POLITICS, OTHER.
  • Then hit PUBLISH POST and it should post.  If you do not get finished, you can hit SAVE NOW and then come back to it later.
You will need to do 4 of these.

You will also need to post comments on other people's stories and possibly react to other people comments on your story.  These comments should be meaningful to count.

The points for this assignment are as follows:
  • 15 points for each story (5 for story summary, 5 for what it means to you, 5 for correct grammar and spelling) - limit 4 stories.
  • 5 points for each meaningful comment (limit 40 points).  You may wish to comment more to make sure you have eight meaningful comments.  You can also do a quick response if it calls for it, but that will not count toward the 40 points (most likely).
  • 4 points extra extra credit for each post with a picture.  I would do this each post if I were you.

Good luck!
